What to expect after a treatment
After your treatment with the osteopath you may feel tired or very relaxed. It is often best not to play sport, lift heavy objects or over exert yourself the day of the treatment. This will give the body more time to adjust, heal and settle into its new position after your treatment. It is best not to drink alcohol too soon after, but to drink more water during the day, and go for a gentle walk after the treatment. This helps the body to flush out any toxins being released by the body.
You may feel very light or energised after a treatment or you may feel very sleepy and heavy, depending on how your body responds. Sometimes there can be post-treatment soreness, which should resolve within 24-48 hours. This is the body adjusting to the new position. Try placing some heat on the area of discomfort. This will increase the blood flow to the area, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the site.
Children may experience, either an increased amount of energy for a short period or may get quite tired and sleep more.
